Burlington's Children's Festival 2014

The 23rd Annual Children's Festival was on Saturday Aug 16, 2014 at Beachway Park and Sunday August 17, 2014 at Spencer Smith park in Burlington, Ontario.

This year's theme was Superheros!

Safari Children's Dentistry proudly sponsored the Superhero Meet and Greet. This meant that we were able to hang out with Spiderman, Batman, Superman, Ironman, and Wonder woman! Superman even showed us some support when he came over and explained to our new friends the importance of brushing their teeth two times a day!

We had a great time giving away free Safari-themed children's toothbrushes. We also brought along our crocodile and monkey puppets to teach kids about the importance of brushing their teeth regularly and properly.

It was also great opportunity for Dr. Gupta and Dr. Tina to get into the Burlington, Hamilton, and Oakville community and talk to parents regarding the importance of seeing a pediatric dentist. Many parents were unfamiliar with the differences between a pediatric dentist and general dentist. Many parents did not realize that pediatric dentists undergo two additional years of intense training to learn about how to properly treat a child. We are like the pediatricians of dentistry! Children are not little adults! Pediatric dentists know how to examine and treat children in ways that make them comfortable. In addition, pediatric dentists use specially designed equipment in offices that are arranged and decorated with children in mind.

On Saturday, we saw a few of our patients from Stoney Creek, Hamilton, Ancaster, and even Binbrook. On Sunday, we saw more of our local Burlington pediatric patients who reside in Alton Village, Millcroft, the Orchard, and South Burlington! It was great seeing our pediatric patients dressed in their favourite superhero and princess costumes. Too bad we only get to see them a few times a year!
